June 6, 2017 – Government of Canada Expands Passport Services in Coquitlam
OTTAWA – As part of its commitment to making services more accessible, the Government of Canada is expanding passport services at Service Canada Centre locations across the country. This will make accessing passport services more convenient as 93 percent of Canadians will be able to access in-person passport services within a 50 km distance of their home.
“Our Government is committed to service excellence, giving Canadians access to services and information close to where they work and live,” said Ron McKinnon. “By expanding passport services in the Services Canada Centre in Coquitlam, we are making it easier for people to obtain assistance with their passport application.”
In addition to being able to apply for a passport at a Service Canada Centre, Canadians will now be able to have supporting documents such as birth certificates and certificates of citizenship validated and returned to them when they submit their application. Expanded services across Canada will also help to reduce wait times at offices providing passport services by offering more services at more locations.
“Canadians want better, faster, and more accessible services from their Government,” said The Honourable Jean-Yves Duclos, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development. “By leveraging Service Canada’s nationwide service delivery network, the Government of Canada is making passport services more accessible and convenient for Canadians.”
The expansion has already started in certain Service Canada Centres and will be complete by the end of June 2017. As passport services at all Service Canada Centre locations are implemented, Canada.ca will be updated to ensure that Canadians can have the information they need to start accessing the services as soon as they are available.
The Coquitlam Service Canada Centre is located at 2963 Glen Drive in Suite 100.
