TOUR OF THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE PORT COQUITLAM RECREATION COMPLEX

Port Coquitlam, BC, May 14th, 2018 The Government of Canada is committed to making investments that will help create jobs and grow the middle class now, while building a strong foundation for a sustainable economic future.

Today, Ron McKinnon, Member of Parliament for Coquitlam-Port Coquitlam visited the Port Coquitlam Recreation Complex, which has received $12.5 million in federal funding as part of the Government’s long-term plan to invest in Canadian communities.

Projects like the Port Coquitlam Recreation Complex bring families, friends and neighbours together—building a sense of connectivity. This 205,000-square-foot structure will include an aquatic facility, three ice sheets, a fitness studio, as well as a library for the community to enjoy.

The federal government contributed $12.5 million to this project under the Infrastructure Canada program.

As part of its plan to invest in people and improve the lives of Canadians,  the Government will invest more than $180 billion over 12 years in public transit projects, green infrastructure, social infrastructure, trade and transportation routes, and Canada’s rural and northern communities’ infrastructure.
