I am delighted to invite you to apply for funding for community projects that support building accessibility infrastructure in Coquitlam-Port Coquitlam, through the Enabling Accessibility Fund (EAF).

The Government of Canada recognizes that Canadians with disabilities face challenges every day that prevent them from fully participating in their communities and the economy. The EAF seeks to reduce accessibility barriers, in order to ensure that everyone has equal access and opportunities. This call for applications follows our first call for mid-size EAF project proposals and will focus on smaller-scale or youth-led initiatives.

Our small projects component will support construction renovation or retrofit projects that will quickly increase accessibility in communities or workplaces, through grants of up to $100,000 per project.

The new youth innovation component empowers our youth to identify accessibility barriers within our communities and partner with local organizations to complete an application for project funding. These initiatives will work to increase accessibility and safety through grants of up to $10,000 per project.

In the past, the EAF has provided organizations in Coquitlam-Port Coquitlam, such as the New View Society, the Port Coquitlam Legion and the King of Life Lutheran church with over $73,000 to increase accessibility in their facilities.

From providing funds to support the installation of automated door openers, to the creation of centres that offer programming for people with disabilities, the EAF works to support increased accessibility in Coquitlam-Port Coquitlam.
